By retiring their Trenton Channel and St. Clair coal plants and retraining their displaced employees for other jobs within the company, DTE is making progress towards its <a href=\"https:\/\/empoweringmichigan.com\/announcing-dtes-cleanvision-integrated-resource-plan\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">CleanVision Integrated Resource Plan<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As part of this clean energy proposal for their 2.3 million customers, DTE aims to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Increase clean energy<\/strong> usage<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Reduce CO2<\/strong> by 65% in 2028, 85% in \u201835, 90% by \u201840 and be net zero by \u201850<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Develop<\/strong> more than 15,000 MW of wind and solar energy, enough to power approx 4 million homes<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Build<\/strong> over 1,800 MW of energy storage to support clean energy transformation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The Solar Energy Industries Association <a href=\"https:\/\/www.seia.org\/state-solar-policy\/michigan-solar\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">ranks Michigan the 25th<\/a> most solar-friendly state in the U.S., with enough solar installed to power 153,000 homes and just under 4,000 solar jobs. Prices of solar panels have dropped by just over 50% over the last 10 years as compared to over 60% across the nation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Target, <a href=\"https:\/\/media.ford.com\/content\/fordmedia\/fna\/us\/en\/news\/2022\/08\/10\/ford-motor-company-and-dte-energy.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Ford<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/news.gm.com\/newsroom.detail.html\/Pages\/news\/us\/en\/2020\/apr\/0420-migp.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">General Motors<\/a> have all gone solar in Michigan in a big way.
